Commissioning a painting

Commissioning a painting
Doug is now ready to offer his services for commissioning work. Having served with the Parachute Regiment for 23 years he has accumulated a wealth of experience from Northern Ireland, the Gulf, Balkans, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan keeping diaries and sketch books. He typically works in the following way: Firstly he visits the unit for the commissioning in theatre. Doug then works with the unit to produce drawings and initial paintings for the commission. Once you have decided to commission Doug he will go through the details including size and costs. If the unit wishes they can arrange a limited run of prints to be included in the cost. This is a good way to recover the cost of a painting as a good limited fine art print can retail between £30 and £100.

The painting can take up to 6 months to complete. You will be invited to view the work before it goes to the printers. He has worked alongside his friend and Printer, Gary for sometime and will discuss in detail all aspects of the product including the title to ensure you have the best fine art print possible. Commissioning a painting can be very exciting and a rewarding experience, capturing an element of your operational tour on canvas, recording realistic events and a turning point in Battle, the day to day routine or past regimental history.
